Twitter is of course is a productivity tool but is not a replacement to blogging (Guys from Twitter said this).

You assume people should read your twits. But making a call is explicit - You have the control. Isnt that good?

Twitter is very close to group chat (Thats why they use Jabber :) )

completely agree with Arun, twitter cannot replace mails/chats/calls.
