it's about time that people start getting interested in other sports as well in India! sania did it for tennis. time to revive hockey! and why aren't all the big companies helping football by pouring some advertising money into it?? any Pepsi co execs around?

I love football. And many others also will. It is very addictive actually.

Think about cricket, Media promoted it like anything and gave a stardom to the players. Now, many are coming with an urge to play in Indian team because of that. If media (TV) does that with Football, it will surpass cricket in no time.

Think tennis, badminton, squash etc.
India has many good players who aren't encouraged to pursue careers in these sports.
Its high time Indian youth comes out of couches and takes the country to the next level in these international sports.

I think its a catch 22!

The big companies don't sponsor coz its not a popular sport . Sportsmen other than cricketers are not demi-gods in India. So sponsoring another sport is not a surefire way to make big bucks.

People might be interested, but then since its not publicized enough, or the sport is not aired much, interest decreases.
